Katie Nageotte, representing the United States and Nike, won the gold medal in the women's pole vault final with a 15-11 (4.85m) clearance on her first attempt at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Nageotte, the reigning Olympic gold medalist, prevailed against fellow American and training partner Sandi Morris, who successfully cleared 15-11 on her second attempt. Both athletes missed three opportunities at 16-0.75 (4.90m).
